Easy Cherry Muffins with Fresh Frozen or Maraschino Cherries
These easy cherry muffins make for a quick and delicious breakfast that can be grabbed on the go on those busy weekdays before work or school. If you love cherry recipes, these muffins make a great cherry breakfast idea!
They also make great after school snacks for kids and workday snacks for when you need a little pick me up. Since we homeschool and do remote learning, the kids will eat and then get their homework stations ready to go for the day.
We even like to take a small bag of muffins with us when are headed out on a road trip. Muffins are the perfect on the go snack because you can put them in a bag and eat on the run.
Don’t they look delicious? If you like cherry, these are some of the best cherry muffins so you have to try them!
Since you can use these as a snack, they would go perfect for kids as a treat as they work on some fun activity sheets or after a nice walk outside collecting rocks.
However, we love having them for breakfast to break up our normal pancake routine!

Easy Cherry Muffins

I always make a couple of batches to last us through the week so we have an easy cherry breakfast and snack whenever we want one.
Cherry Breakfast Muffin Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons of white sugar
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup oil of choice
- 1/3 cup milk of choice
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of cherries, chopped
Cherry Breakfast Muffin Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400F and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners so you have everything ready to go when the batter is mixed.
Stir together the flour, 3/4 cups of the sugar, baking powder and salt until it is well mixed.
Stir in the oil, milk, and egg and mix well. If you have a few lumps it will be ok but you want to make sure the batter looks mostly uniform so the cherry muffins set up correctly.
Next, we will gently fold in the cherries and then scoop the batter into the cupcake liners we have ready. Fill the cupcakes liners about 2/3 of the way full.
Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of sugar on top of each muffin so that they come out with a sweet and kind of crunchy topping.
Bake for 20-24 minutes until golden brown or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
