Maple Frosting Icing Recipe

The maple frosting is what brings these bakery style pumpkin cookies together! It just adds so much flavor and compliments the cookies so well.

  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 1 ½ - 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tsp milk

How to make the maple frosting:

  1. With a hand mixer beat butter until light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.  Add in the maple syrup and vanilla extract.  Beat until everything is mixed well.
  2. Mix in the powdered sugar, ½ cup at a time, mixing until everything is combined.
  3. Add in 2-3 tsp of milk and beat until well mixed.
  4. If the maple frosting feels too runny, you can add in some powdered sugar.  If it gets too thick add a little more milk.
  5. Spread the maple frosting on the pumpkin cookies and enjoy!

For fun and for some extra flavor, I will sprinkle a bit of nutmeg or pumpkin spice on top of the maple frosting.
