Grape and Avocado Salad with Poppyseed Dressing

Green Salad with Fruit and DIY Poppyseed Dressing

This grape and avocado salad is tossed with a homemade poppy seed dressing that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

If you love green salads with fruit, this is a must-try! While we call it a grape and avocado salad, but it’s really just a green salad with fruit.

This salad is perfect for parties, summer gatherings, holidays, or you can use it as a side dish. It’s a versatile salad that can be served any time!

What fruit do you use for this salad recipe?

Grapes. I use dark purple grapes for salads because they are sweeter than green grapes. You can also use black grapes.

Oranges. For the oranges, we only buy the mandarin oranges because they are a bit sweeter. You can either use mandarin oranges or you can use regular oranges.

What kind of dressing is used?

Our homemade poppy seed dressing is used. It is an easy recipe that you can put together in just a few minutes.

If you have a favorite brand, you can use that instead. This salad goes best with a vinegar-based dressing though, not a creamy salad dressing.

This green salad with fruit is super easy to put together. It makes enough to feed our family of 4 and can be used as the perfect side dish for just about any meal.

Ingredients needed to make the fruit and avocado salad:

  • 1 bunch of Large Red Leaf Lettuce
  • ¼ lb Black or Dark Purple Grapes sliced in half
  • 2 Green Onions, diced
  • Avocado, peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup Bean Sprouts (these are optional, they are really only used for the crunchiness)
  • 2 Oranges, peeled and sliced

How to put together the salad:

  1. Wash, dry, and cut the lettuce into bite-size pieces and place in a large salad bowl.
  2. Add the halved grapes, diced green onions, and sliced avocado to your salad mix.
  3. Peel and slice oranges and add to the salad bowl.
  4. Slightly mix to combine and enjoy!

Sometimes I put the bean sprouts in the salad and sometimes I don’t. They are optional.

If you want to leave them out you can since they are only really included in the salad to give it an extra crunch.
