The Homeschool Buyers Co-Op is something every homeschool parent should check into. There are lots of great reasons to join a co-op.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Homeschool Buyers Co-op, here’s a short rundown. For a more detailed description, you can check out our review which also lists even more benefits to joining the co-op.
If you’d like to check it out for yourself, just go to homeschoolbuyersco-op.org
What is it?
It is a free and valuable resource for new homeschooling parents and even for veteran homeschoolers. Members get a discount on the various homeschool products offered.
Besides the reason above, here are a few more reasons why you need to join the co-op.
Field Trip Finder
If you’re looking for local field trips in your area, through the co-op you can use the free field trip finder. It’s easy to use, simply click on the map (includes the U.S. and Canada) then choose a state or province. You can choose different categories and search options to find what you’re looking for.
Homeschool ID cards
The co-op has an online homeschool ID card creator that you can use. It only takes a few minutes (at most) and then you can print your own card for free. Alternatively, you can pay for them to create plastic ID cards ($7.95 for the first card and $5.95 for additional cards in the same order).
Contests and Scholarships Database
As the kids get older you may be hunting down different scholarships for kids who are homeschooled. Luckily, the co-op has a very large database of educational contests and scholarships just for homeschooled kids.
Homeschool Classified Ads
This is one of my favorites. Homeschool curriculum can get pricey and what are you to do after you’re done with it? Use the co-op’s free classified ads to sell your used homeschool resources. If you’re looking for your own curriculum, you can also purchase from the classified ads.
