Since we have been spending a lot of time outside and picking up rocks for various homeschooling projects, I thought this rock craft for kids would be a great way to create a fun DIY Father’s Day Card.
This craft will also go great with a All About My Dad Father’s Day activity that kids can do. Kids can give dad both the activity and this card together for a surprise gift.
This is a great projects that kids can help with and it only takes a few supplies that you can find at your local craft store.
Once the rock frame is finished, kids can give it to dad as a gift for Father’s Day! If you want, you can also use a family picture or picture of the kids and place them in the frame instead of the design shown.
To get started, here is what you need to make the Father’s Day rock frame:
The frame is super simple to build.
Build the frame by attaching two popsicle sticks to each side and two popsicle sticks to the top and bottom. Glue the corners to secure the popsicle sticks in place.
Tip: Tacky glue seems to be the best glue to hold the rocks in place.
When the glue on the frame is dry, glue rocks all around the frame. You can use large rocks, small rocks or a collection of both.
Grab this free printable “You Rock” insert. When you print the card design, you will want to print it on heavy cardstock.
Cut it out around the outer border and glue it to the back of the frame. If you are wanting to use a picture instead, simply change out the printable for your favorite image.
Tip: Be sure the glue is completely dry under the rocks before moving the frame.
Doesn’t it look pretty cute? This DIY Dad Rocks card is such an easy craft that kids can put together for dad and dad will love the keepsake!
